About the Chamber President
Steve Densley is the longest sitting Chamber President in the State of Utah approaching 27 years of service. A true Utahan, born and raised, he heralds from Riverton, Blanding and Sandy, graduating from Jordan High School. In high school he was selected All American in both Football and Basketball which earned him a sports scholarship to Brigham Young University, graduating in 1970. During his years at BYU, he met his wife Colleen who is currently the principal of Wasatch Elementary School in Provo and was Utah’s Teacher of the Year in 1992. They have six children and 14 grandchildren.
Upon graduation from BYU, Steve went to work for the Crown Zellerbach Corporation in Chicago and for the Electronics Development Corp in Washington D.C. He moved back to Utah and became General Manager for Western Placement Consultants in Salt Lake City. He later bought a Provo based company called Intermountain West, moved it to Orem and renamed it Kodiak Inc. He expanded the Kodiak, Inc to six different Utah locations and sold them in 1983 when he became Chamber President. Steve then served as Utah State Chamber President on three occasions and currently sits on the State Chamber Board of Directors.

Steve has been actively involved in politics running for U.S. Congress and Lt.Governor of the State of Utah in 1992. He was selected for the Distinguished Alumni Award at Brigham Young University in 2008. Utah Business Magazine gave him the Utah Trail Blazer Award in 2008 and he was been presented the Mayors Medal of Honor. He has hosted an early morning and nightly TV Show for the past three years called Taking Care of Business and writes a weekly column for the Daily Herald now in its 15th year. He is nationally published in Chicken Soup for the Soul. He currently sits on the U.S. Chambers Institute of Organizational Management Board of Regents at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He has also attended Colorado University, San Jose State, UCLA, Colorado College, Loyola Marymount University, and graduated from SMU from the Institute of Advanced Management a U.S. Chamber Program.
Steve currently sits on several Utah including the Zion’s Bank Advisory Board, the Sundance Film Festival Utah Board, the State Chamber Board of Directors, Rotary Board, Utah Lake Commission, Utah Valley University Community Relations Board, Pacific States Pipe Advisory Board and numerous others. Steve has also supported the United Way V.P. of Allocations, Utah State Medical Advisory, Consumer Protection Board, Cascade District BSA, Jr. Achievement, HOBY, Utah Foundation, Provo Arts Council, Utah Home Builders Association and others.
